Good to know
Forest check posts on the Hyderabad–Srisailam road are usually closed to traffic at night (roughly 9 pm to 6 am). We plan the drives in daylight, so please do not ask the driver to leave late.
Sparsha darshan (touching the Jyotirlinga) and quick-darshan tickets are sold online on the Srisailam Devasthanam website in time slots. Slots fill fast on Mondays, holidays and in Karthika Masam, and sparsha darshan is sometimes suspended on festival days. Please check before travel.
Traditional dress is usually required for sparsha darshan and sevas: dhoti or kurta-pyjama for men, saree or churidar with dupatta for women. Mobile phones are not allowed inside the temple; use the deposit counter.
Srisailam is hot from March to June (often 38–42 °C). Carry water, a cap and light cotton clothes.
There are monkeys near Sakshi Ganapathi and the viewpoints. Keep food and bags closed.
Questions travellers ask
Can we start from Vijayawada instead of Hyderabad?
Yes. Vijayawada to Srisailam is about 260 km (5.5–6 hours) via Vinukonda and Dornala. The plan and nights stay the same; ask us for a quote from Vijayawada.
Is sparsha darshan included?
No. Darshan tickets are not included. We will tell you when to book online, and the driver will take you to the temple for your time slot.
Is there a dress code?
For general darshan, modest clothing is enough. For sparsha darshan and sevas, men usually need a dhoti or kurta-pyjama and women a saree or churidar with dupatta. Please check the latest rules before travel.
Can we see the dam gates open?
The dam gates are opened only when the Krishna is in flood, usually for a few weeks between August and October. At other times you see the dam and the reservoir from the viewpoint.
Is one night enough?
One night is possible, but two nights let elders rest after the 5-hour drive and give time for a second darshan. We can quote a 1-night version if you prefer.
