A 6-day private Kashmir trip starting and ending in Srinagar. You stay two nights at Taj's Vivanta Dal View above Dal Lake, a night at a heritage hotel in Gulmarg, a night by the Lidder river in Pahalgam, and the last night on a luxury houseboat on Dal or Nigeen Lake with dinner. A private shikara ride and a guided walk through old Srinagar are included; the Gulmarg Gondola and Pahalgam valley taxis are optional and paid locally.

Day-by-day itinerary
Arrive Srinagar · private shikara ride on Dal Lake — Your chauffeur meets you at Srinagar airport and drives you to the hotel on the Zabarwan hills above Dal Lake (about 17 km, 40 minutes). After lunch and rest, take a private shikara ride of about 1.5 hours on Dal Lake (included), past the houseboats, floating gardens and the Char Chinar island, timed for sunset. Return to the hotel for the evening; dinner is at your own choice and cost.
Mughal gardens and a guided walk in old Srinagar — In the morning, visit the Mughal gardens along the lake: Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashme Shahi, laid out in terraces in the 17th century (entry tickets paid locally; the Tulip Garden opens only in late March–April). In the afternoon, a local guide leads a walk through old Srinagar to the wooden Jamia Masjid, the Khanqah of Shah-e-Hamdan on the Jhelum and the old trading lanes (included).…
Srinagar to Gulmarg · optional Gondola ride — After breakfast, drive to Gulmarg (about 50 km, 1.5–2 hours), a meadow at about 2,650 metres ringed by pine forest. Check in at your hotel, then take the optional Gulmarg Gondola: Phase 1 to Kongdori and Phase 2 towards Apharwat peak (tickets are best booked online in advance and paid separately; Phase 2 closes in bad weather). Gulmarg to Pahalgam · the Lidder valley — After breakfast, drive to Pahalgam (about 145 km, 4–4.5 hours) via Srinagar and the saffron fields of Pampore, where you can stop to buy saffron and kahwa. The road then follows the Lidder river up into the valley. Check in at the hotel and take an evening walk along the river.
Pahalgam valleys · luxury houseboat in Srinagar — In the morning, visit Betaab Valley, Aru Valley and Chandanwari; outside vehicles are not allowed on these roads, so the local union taxi is mandatory and paid locally (roughly ₹3,000–4,000 per vehicle; Chandanwari is often snowbound in winter). After lunch, drive back to Srinagar (about 95 km, 2.5–3 hours), where a shikara takes you to your luxury houseboat on Dal or Nigeen Lake. Dinner is…
Departure from Srinagar — After breakfast on the houseboat, a shikara brings you to the shore. If time allows, you can visit a carpet or papier-mache workshop on the way. Your chauffeur then drives you to Srinagar airport (about 40 minutes); reach at least 2.5–3 hours before your flight, because there are security checks at the entry gate as well as at the terminal.

Visa & entry
No visa or permit needed for Indian citizens. Carry a government photo ID (Aadhaar, passport, driving licence or voter ID) for every traveller; it is checked at hotels and at the airport entry.
Good to know
Prepaid SIM cards from other states do not work in Jammu & Kashmir; postpaid connections do. Hotels have Wi-Fi.

In Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg, local taxi and pony unions control sightseeing; our car cannot go up the valley roads.
Book Gulmarg Gondola tickets online as soon as your dates are fixed; walk-in tickets often sell out in season.
Winter (December–February) temperatures drop below freezing in Gulmarg and Pahalgam; heavy snowfall can delay drives or close the Pahalgam road for a day.

Is Kashmir safe for families?
Tourist areas like Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam receive large numbers of Indian families every year. We check the current advisory before you travel and stay in touch with you throughout.
Is the houseboat comfortable?
Luxury-category houseboats have carved wooden interiors, attached bathrooms with hot water and heating in winter. If you prefer, we can replace the houseboat night with a hotel night.
Will there be snow?
Snow in Gulmarg is most likely from late December to February. From March–April you may still see snow on Apharwat via the Gondola Phase 2.
Can we stay at The Khyber in Gulmarg?
Yes. The Khyber and other top hotels can be booked as an upgrade; we will quote the difference for your dates.
Does the price include flights?
No. The trip starts and ends at Srinagar airport. We can quote flights from Vijayawada or Hyderabad separately.
