A 4-day Jyotirlinga trip that starts and ends in Indore. You spend two nights in Ujjain for darshan at Mahakaleshwar, the Bhasma Aarti (booked online by you in advance) and the old temples of Avantika, then one night at Omkareshwar on the Narmada for darshan at Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar. Drives are short: 55 km to Ujjain, 140 km to Omkareshwar and 80 km back to Indore.

Arrive Indore · Drive to Ujjain · Mahakal darshan — Our driver meets you at Indore airport or railway station and drives about 55 km to Ujjain (about 1.5 hours). After check-in, go for general darshan at Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, the only south-facing Jyotirlinga, and walk through the Shri Mahakal Lok corridor. Omkareshwar to Indore · Khajrana Ganesh · Departure — Take an early morning darshan again if you wish, then after breakfast drive about 80 km to Indore (about 2 hours). No visa needed. Carry the original photo ID you used for the Bhasma Aarti booking, as it is checked at entry.
Good to know
Bhasma Aarti tickets are limited and usually open on the official Mahakaleshwar temple website some weeks ahead. Book as soon as your dates are fixed, and send us the confirmation so we can plan the 2:30–3 am pickup.
For the Bhasma Aarti, men are usually asked to wear a dhoti (often without a shirt) and women a saree to enter the inner area. Check the current dress rule printed on your booking.
Mobile phones are usually not allowed inside Mahakaleshwar. Lockers are available near the entry gates.
Mondays, Shravan month (July–August) and Mahashivratri bring very long queues at both Jyotirlingas. Darshan can take several hours on those days.
At Omkareshwar the walk from parking to the temple, including the bridge, is about 1 km with steps. Senior citizens can take a boat across, paid locally.
Questions travellers ask
Is the Bhasma Aarti ticket included?
No. It must be booked in your own name on the official Mahakaleshwar temple website, using the ID you will carry. Tickets are limited and sell out quickly, especially on Mondays and in Shravan. We arrange the early morning car and plan the day around your slot.
What if we cannot get a Bhasma Aarti booking?
You can still have regular darshan at Mahakaleshwar. Some days the temple allows a limited number of people to watch the Bhasma Aarti from outside the main hall; check the rules close to your date.
Can we add Maheshwar?
Yes. Maheshwar, with its Narmada ghats and Ahilya Fort, is about 65 km from Omkareshwar. It adds half a day, which needs one more night or a very long last day. Ask us for a 5-day version.
Why Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar both?
Many pilgrims consider the Jyotirlinga darshan complete only after visiting both shrines, which face each other across the Narmada. They are about 1 km apart.
