Questions travellers ask

Are non-Hindus allowed inside the Jagannath Temple?

No. The temple administration allows only Hindus inside. Non-Hindu travellers can see the temple and its flag from the Raghunandan Library rooftop opposite the main gate. All other places on this tour, including Konark, are open to everyone.

Can we have Mahaprasad?

Yes. Mahaprasad is sold at the Ananda Bazaar inside the temple complex, usually from late morning. It is cooked in earthen pots in the temple kitchen and offered to Lord Jagannath first. Pay only at the counters.

Can we add Chilika Lake?

Yes. Satapada on Chilika Lake is about 50 km from Puri, and a boat trip to see Irrawaddy dolphins takes about 2–3 hours. It fits on day 2 if we leave very early, or as an extra day. Ask us for the add-on.

Is the tour suitable for senior citizens?

Yes. Drives are short (35–65 km), and the temples are reached by car with some walking. Inside the Jagannath Temple there are some steps and uneven stone floors, and footwear is left outside, so walk carefully.
