Highlights

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Delhi to Mathura · Krishna Janmabhoomi · Vishram Ghat aarti — Our driver picks you up from Delhi airport, railway station or hotel in the morning and drives about 180 km to Mathura on the Yamuna Expressway (3–3.5 hours). Have darshan at the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple complex, revered as Lord Krishna's birthplace; security is strict and phones, bags and cameras are usually not allowed inside, so leave them in the car. Visit Dwarkadhish Temple and…
  2. Vrindavan temples · Banke Bihari · ISKCON · Prem Mandir — After breakfast, visit Banke Bihari Temple early, as it gets very crowded later; the curtain in front of the deity is drawn and opened repeatedly, and timings change between summer and winter, so check before going. Continue to Radha Raman, Radha Vallabh and Nidhivan in the old town, then the ISKCON Krishna Balaram Mandir. In the evening, see Prem Mandir when its marble is lit up (lights usually…
  3. Gokul · Govardhan · Drive to Agra · Agra Fort — After breakfast, drive to Govardhan (about 22 km) and go around Govardhan hill by car (about 21 km), stopping at Mansi Ganga and Daan Ghati; the full parikrama on foot takes 5–6 hours and is optional. Visit Gokul, where Krishna is said to have been raised by Nanda and Yashoda, on the way to Agra (about 60 km, 1.5 hours from Mathura). In the late afternoon, see Agra Fort (entry fee extra) and…
  4. Taj Mahal at sunrise · Return to Delhi — Visit the Taj Mahal at opening time, around sunrise, when it is cooler and less crowded; it is closed on Fridays, and the entry ticket is extra. Return to the hotel for breakfast and check out, then drive about 230 km back to Delhi on the Yamuna Expressway (3.5–4 hours). We drop you at Delhi airport, railway station or hotel by mid-afternoon.

Good to know

Questions travellers ask

Can we attend Mangala Aarti at ISKCON?

Yes. ISKCON Krishna Balaram Mandir usually holds Mangala Aarti around 4:30 am. Our hotels are within a short drive, and your driver can take you if you tell him the night before.

Can we visit Barsana and Nandgaon?

Yes, as an addition on day 3. Barsana is about 45 km from Vrindavan and Nandgaon another 8 km, which adds 3–4 hours. Tell us when booking so we can adjust the day.

Is the Taj Mahal open every day?

It is closed on Fridays. If your day 4 falls on a Friday, we see the Taj Mahal on day 3 evening instead and visit Fatehpur Sikri or Agra Fort on day 4.

Can we start from Agra or Mathura station instead of Delhi?

Yes. Mathura Junction and Agra Cantt are on the main Delhi–Hyderabad and Delhi–Chennai rail lines. We can adjust the plan and price for a Mathura start.
